Mission: The mission of Boerne Reads is to support our community through literacy initiatives that strengthen reading skills, provide access to books, educates parents on the importance of reading to their children and provide information on resources available at the library.

Vision:  The vision of Boerne Reads is that all children in Kendall County will be reading on level by the end of 3rd grade within the next 5 years.

 – The Work –

ACCESS:   Regular access to age appropriate books has been proven to strengthen a child’s reading ability.  We provide books through partner organizations to demonstrate that books are an important component to a healthy life.

Brochures encouraging reading are distributed throughout the community.

Maternal Literacy Support:  In order to provide support to children, we need to educate parents on the importance of reading to their children from birth.

Pre-K and After School:  With so many of our economically disadvantaged children registered in Pre-K and Head Start as well as after-school programs, children are read to and supported as they strengthen their reading ability.

The children at Head Start were so excited to have books and a shelf to put it all in.

Educating parents in the importance of their role as their child’s first teacher.
