About the Foundation
The Boerne Public Library Library Foundation,a 501 (c) 3 organization, supports the library and the literacy needs of the Boerne community. In 1993, with the rise of technology, internet access and a growing population, a group of citizens created the foundation to provide private funds for the library. Working with the City, this group began fundraising for library equipment needs, programs and services that were beyond the city’s budget. Over the past 25 years, the foundation has raised funds and awareness for our library – our community hub. Today, the Boerne Public Library Foundation provides funding for capital needs, special events, literacy programs, children’s and teen activities, and cultural and educational projects. Funds for these projects and programs are generated by individual donations, gifts, bequests, grants and other forms of public and private assistance.
Supporting literacy for the betterment of our community is our mission. In 2016, after several years of planning, the foundation launched Boerne Reads. Because strong literacy skills are the foundation for life success, the foundation is committed to increasing the access to books for children living in crisis and poverty. Because so many children are unable to get to the library, the foundation is bringing the books to them. Through partnerships with local support organizations and the school district, books are reaching the children through avenues where they are already receiving regular support.
